What each metric means

Understand the numbers behind the conversion rate.

Visitors or sessions

How many people reached that post, page, or campaign in the period. It's the denominator — without it there's no conversion rate.

Conversions

How many of those visits hit the goal you defined: a lead, a sale, a CTA click, a signup. What counts as a conversion changes from page to page.

Conversion rate

Conversions divided by visitors, times 100. The result shows what fraction of the people who arrived actually did what you wanted.

Comparison

Put several posts, pages, or campaigns side by side to find out which one converts best — and where it's worth investing effort first.

Tips about conversion rate

  • Define clearly what counts as a conversion before comparing numbers — mixing different goals (lead vs. sale vs. click) distorts the comparison.
  • Compare similar time periods. A post published 2 years ago tends to have a different rate than a new post, even with the same content.
  • Very high rates (above 30%) usually mean low traffic or too easy a goal — be suspicious of the number before celebrating.
  • Blog content conversion rates usually sit between 1% and 5%, but vary a lot by niche and conversion type.
  • The rate alone doesn't tell the whole story — combine it with visitor volume to know where it's most worth investing effort first.
